You may have noticed that LinkedIn recently rolled out a new feature that lets contacts endorse you in areas they personally believe you are an expert in. Lots of LinkedIn users are loving this new feature because its faster than writing an official recommendation on the site.
In my opinion there is no real downside to the new feature…personally and professionally it looks good to be endorsed by others as it shows that people think highly of you and the work you do. It also reflects positively on your business as a whole if you are seen as an expert in the industry.
The endorsements are collected and appear at the bottom of your profile…like shown below. I would encourage you to accept any endorsement notifications that come through your email so they show up on your profile.
Now, if you want to endorse some of your connections in return here’s how…its really quite easy.
Log into your LinkedIn account. Open the person’s profile that you’d like to endorse. Scroll to the bottom of their profile to view the Skills and Expertise section (shown above); click the “+” sign next to each category you would like to endorse them in.
That’s it, you’ll be done.
Let me know if you have any questions at all about your LinkedIn account or managing endorsements, I’d be happy to help.
